Your overseas holiday should be an exciting, memorable experience. You've probably saved long and hard and want to enjoy the fruits of your labour. To make the most of your next trip and avoid any issues accessing your hard earned cash, make sure you plan ahead. Think about how you want to pay for things like food and public transport, versus bigger expenses like accommodation and transfers.
Before you venture off on your next holiday it's important you:
Make sure you notify us before you leave to prevent any potential account access issues whilst you're travelling. Send us a Secure Mail with your travel dates, either via the App or Online Banking. You can also give us a call on 1300 747 747 so we can update our records.
When travelling overseas, we recommend you use our Mobile App for your banking needs.
Our App provides high levels of protection and a better user experience when roaming the globe.
If you've not yet downloaded and registered for the app and would like to, learn more here about how to access the App while overseas.
Before you head off overseas, it's a good idea to ensure you've added your Qudos Bank card to your digital wallet. Doing this while overseas can cause transactions to be blocked as it may seem like a stolen card is being used. Find out more about how to set up your digital wallet.
If you're planning to use Online Banking while overseas, you'll need to consider switching on international roaming on your mobile or tablet device to make new payments. QSafe SMS is required to set up new payments, however, you can continue to make payments and transfers to your saved favourites without the need of international roaming or QSafe SMS. Always check with your network provider as fees and charges may apply.
If you plan to use your Qudos Bank debit or credit card while overseas, please ensure you turn on international transactions under 'Card Controls' within the Qudos Bank App. Please note some countries only accept PIN for card payments, so make sure you have yours set before you travel.
All transactions made in a foreign currency using your Visa Card are subject to a 3.65% conversion fee. Please note that some online merchants may display a price in Australian dollars but process the transaction in a foreign currency. Some overseas merchants may also charge a surcharge for making a purchase using your card.
We're always monitoring your cards and in the event of unusual transactions our card monitoring service provider will endeavour to contact you to confirm the transactions in question and may restrict your card. This is why it's important you advise us when you're travelling overseas and ensure your overseas contact details are up to date.
Your Qudos Bank Visa card will work in any overseas ATM so long as it supports Visa. Please ensure that when you are withdrawing cash from an international ATM, you select the credit option. The maximum daily cash withdrawal limit from an ATM is AUD$2000 per day, per card. Please note some ATM operators may charge their own fees and set their own limits. You should be advised of the amount of the fee prior to the withdrawal and be asked to accept the fee to continue with the transaction.
If you think you may have misplaced your card, you can temporarily lock your card within the Qudos Bank App under 'Card Management'. Once your card is locked, no transactions can be made using the physical card. Recurring payments will not be affected. You can easily unlock your card once you've found it.
If your card is lost or stolen, you can report your card lost or stolen within the Qudos Bank App under 'Card Management'. This will cancel your card immediately and permanently and you will no longer be able to use your physical card. To order a new card or report unauthorised transactions, please call us on +61 2 9582 3200 (during business hours) or send a Secure Mail via the Qudos Bank App. We can link your new card to the cancelled card so you can continue to make purchases via your digital wallet.
